Introduction
The client’s brief focused on boosting brand awareness and engaging a younger audience. During brainstorming with the creative team, I proposed the idea of creating a chat app where teenagers could interact with Christmas characters. This concept evolved into an interactive, mobile-friendly chatbot web application. As a young designer eager to prove myself, I took on the challenge to design the entire app and illustrate the characters.
The Characters
The characters were created with a fun Christmas theme and an entertaining twist. Coming up with the ideas and bringing them to life was such a joyful experience for the team and me!
The Chat App
The chat app was designed to be simple and engaging, with a focus on the characters. The interface was kept minimal to ensure that the characters were the main attraction. We chose a responsive web app to ensure accessibility across smartphones, desktops, and interactive outdoor displays.
At the time, conversation chatbots were out of reach for the scale of this project, so we used predefined multiple-choice answers, creating 268 unique outputs for the four characters
Results
The campaign received a fantastic response, with thousands of users spending an average of over 4 minutes chatting with their favorite characters, and it was Rudolph who stole the show as the most popular. The app also did a great job of driving traffic to the Vipnet webshop through exclusive coupon rewards, generating significant leads.
Reflection
This project was absolutely one of the best and most creatively fulfilling experiences of my career. It really showed me the awesome impact that simple yet creative ideas can have. Plus, it made me feel super valued for my contributions to the team.
